CTC Rides

If you would like to join an organised ride, the CTC's Woking Wayfarers meet on Sundays, at 9.15am, outside the Woking Main Post Office for morning only and some day rides with a coffee stop. There are also mid week rides on a Wednesday.  For further information visit the CTC, West Surrey District Association's web page and select from the Runs List.

WCUG Rides

We will once more be running a series of monthly cycle rides for beginners and improvers.   These will be short cycle rides starting from Woking Leisure Centre at 2pm on a Sunday.  There will also be a couple of longer rides.  Members £1.00; non-members £2.00.  The short rides are designed for novices not used to riding a bicycle any distance.  If you can ride to the shops, you will manage these rides.  No-one is ever left behind!  Route will be on tracks and minor roads, about 10-15 miles and approximately 2 – 2 ½ hours.   The dates are shown on the diary entries below or there is more information about the rides here.  If you wish for more information then please contact Ian on 07969 506906 or by e mail at iankwright@hotmail.com

Saturday 30 August to Sunday 21 September

Vuelta A Espana cycle race with more information available again in English here. TV coverage on British Eurosport .

Sunday 7 September

The second of our longer cycle rides, starting as usual at 2 p.m. but riding a bit faster and further than the usual monthly rides. The ride will probably be 25 to 30 miles rather than the usual 10 to 15 miles.  My plan will be to follow the path by the A320 to St. Peter’s and then via Lyne to Egham and Staines.  From there we will follow the river to Shepperton and cross on the ferry to pick up the River Wey and the Basingstoke Canal back to Woking.  If you’d like to meet us at the Six Cross Roads, let me know first on 07969-506906.  For more information look at our rides page.

Sunday 7 to Sunday 14 September

The 2008 Tour of Britain begins in London and will visit a total of 15 host venues around the country, nine of which are completely new to the race, so if the race hasn’t been past our door step, perhaps this is the year!
